Omniquest
Background:
Task and Mission
To produce an application to be used in tandem with a major retailer’s online grocery pick up service which will inspire employees to a greater degree of productivity by engaging the competitive spirit, as well as make the process more fun and engaging.
In the normal process of order picking, associates are directed from a source app which ties data from online orders and projects a course throughout the store allowing them to fulfill multiple orders with ease and efficiency.
The orders are then gathered and placed for delivery in a staging environment.
There are two target pieces of data to be used for Omniquest throughout the picking to delivery process.
Pick rate: How many successfully picked items averaged per hour.
Wait time: How long the average wait time is from customer store arrival time to customer delivery time from staging.

Discovery
Research goals
In order to understand the process, an onsite interview was set up at one of the retailer locations. I followed an associate around throughout the process of order picking, video documenting the process while asking questions. After the footage was reviewed, I documented the findings into a report to be presented to key stakeholders for product justification and buy in.
Interviews
Several on and off-site interviews were conducted from product owner to primary users.

Process Flow
Usability Testing
Omniquest was piloted for release across 12 selected stores. Upon release of the product, efficiency for the picking department skyrocketed 14.7% in productivity the first two weeks of use, which is an unheard of jump according to previous feedback trends from other product releases. Needless to say, it was a hit. Two visits of user testing was conducted post release with 4-5 subjects interviewed per visit. Overall scoring put SUS at 83.3 and NPS at 83. Feature enhancements were being considered for future releases.
